Later in the day I went to the CBS Radford studio to support my friends screening. Lex {whom I often discuss on this blog} was the cinematographer of a very cute short film called Brownie Points. Jenn Page directed it and Sheila Daley starred. Another film that screened was a beautifully touching short called A Note to Etienne that Allison Vanore produced. Congrats all around guys! Very well done.
Why are so many things shooting in Atlanta??
Well I know Tyler Perry has built a studio out there so I get why all of his stuff is shot there but I'm not sure about the rest. My guess is that they must have some amazing tax incentives that these production companies are taking advantage of.
Hey Brandi!
Well done on getting those submissions out! Also if you're interested in Georgia film tax incentives have a look at this. http://www.georgia.org/GeorgiaIndustries/Entertainment/AboutUs/Pages/Incentives.aspx
As always, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! X
Great info Ophelia! 20-30% in tax breaks explains it. That's a big chunk of change they're saving.
Hey Brandi,
Maybe it's a stupid question but do you only send your headshots and resume or do you also send a demo-reel ?
I always wonder if it's worth contacts casting directors without a demo-reel.
Hi M,
Not a stupid question at all! I don't ever send my reel unsolicited because many CD's won't accept them. Instead I have a link to my reel listed on my resume so that they can go to it at their convenience.
If you don't have a reel yet most people will tell you not to blind submit to CD's however I got called in to the Young & the Restless without a reel at the time so there are no hard & fast rules. Just try to be as smart as you can about your submissions because they can cost a pretty penny.
Hey Brandi! Great work! Wishing you lots of luck. :D
